Teikyo University

As stated in its School Philosophy, Teikyo University has established as its purpose and mission the development of human resources, and to achieve this, we have adopted the educational philosophy of "One's Way" and the specific educational guidelines of "practical learning, international perspectives, and open-mindedness" and defined educational objectives for faculties and departments. Based on these policies, the curriculum will comprise liberal arts education courses and specialized courses.

Degrees are awarded to students who have completed the prescribed curriculum and credits and have acquired:

  1. The abilities defined in the learning goals of the university's liberal arts education
  2. A broad range of culture, social ethics, abundant creativity, and a humanistic disposition
  3. Knowledge and skills in specialized fields and a willingness to apply them to contribute to society
  4. The ability to understand different cultures and make judgements with an international mindset
  5. The ability to learn independently and collaborate with others, as well as build relationships that further uplift yourself and others

Teikyo University systematically and effectively organizes liberal arts education courses and specialized courses for faculties and departments, and offers an appropriate combination of lectures, seminars, and practical training in order for students to acquire the abilities required to receive a degree.

Furthermore, in order to improve the quality of education, we will provide the detailed guidance necessary to complete our courses.

The curriculum for each subject is organized according to the following policy.

  1. For liberal arts education, we will organize subjects that enable students to acquire the ability to continue learning throughout their lives, in accordance with the Teikyo University liberal arts education mission.
  2. For specialized education, we will promote independent learning in specialized faculties and departments, and systematically organize subjects that enable students to acquire knowledge and skills.
  3. Based on the "practical learning" aspect of the Educational Guidelines, we will organize subjects that enable students to acquire logical thinking skills through practice.
  4. Based on the "international perspectives" aspect of the Educational Guidelines, we will organize subjects that teach students to understand other cultures.
  5. Based on the "open-mindedness" aspect of the Educational Guidelines, we will organize subjects that provide students with a wide range of necessary knowledge and skills without bias in order to broaden their perspective.

In accordance with our School Philosophy, Teikyo University accepts a wide range of students from Japan and abroad with the following qualifications in order to develop human resources who have the abilities required to receive a degree.

  1. Students who understand the School Philosophy, Educational Philosophy, and Educational Guidelines of the university, and wish to study at the university
  2. Students with basic academic abilities and the willingness to study after admission
  3. Students with the attitude required to continuously strive to acquire a wide range of knowledge without prejudice
  4. Students with a desire to grow through their studies and experiences at the university and are willing to contribute to society
  5. Students who have a clear sense of purpose and a willingness to learn independently and collaboratively with others

In order to appropriately select such students, we conduct multifaceted and comprehensive evaluations.

In accordance with the School Philosophy, we aim to develop human resources who can contribute to society by acquiring the education, knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for the real world and applying them to establish their own value in society.

This requires broad perspectives and knowledge, as well as a willingness and attitude to learn proactively. For this reason, it is extremely important for students to study a wide range of subjects that are considered part of the basic curriculum in high school and other prior education.

We seek the following kinds of applicants who have acquired these abilities and qualities through their aforementioned studies in high school and other prior education.

  1. Students with basic academic abilities and with the motivation to seriously gain knowledge and skills are able to make use of these abilities after enrollment.
  2. Students who can set goals for higher education, employment, study abroad, etc. and work independently to achieve them
  3. Students who are able to face the world without prejudice, have a broad interest in various matters, actively engage with others, and try to understand others with compassion
