In today's globalized world, we must have the ability to address globally omnipresent problems that transcend linguistic and cultural spheres. The goal of the Faculty of Language Studies is to educate individuals who are active in the international community by making full use of foreign languages. In addition to language skills, we aim to nurture individuals who can contribute to international society as global citizens by learning the culture and history of the country or region where the language is spoken, and by learning the manners of people who come into contact with different cultures.
Extensive educational content and support framework to help students acquire practical foreign language abilities
Students will acquire a higher level of expertise through in-depth language education while simultaneously learning about the culture and society of the linguistic area in which they are studying. In addition, students will organically learn about the cultures of other regions of the world, fostering a true international understanding and a broad perspective.
Through basic courses, specialized courses, and seminars, students cultivate the ability to express their own opinions, communicate with others, and solve problems while receiving constant and thorough guidance in small classes.
Students can use the Media Library Center available at the Faculty of Language Studies at Hachioji Campus. We back up comfortable and fruitful student life by providing plenty of classrooms with small class sizes and group study rooms to support independent learning.
The program's focus is not only to acquire foreign language skills but also to study that country's culture in depth through films and newspapers and to give full-scale presentations and graduation presentations after setting their themes and conducting their research.
The Department of Language Studies offers the Global Campus Program (GCP) during the second semester of the second year. The Department of Global Japanese Studies also requires students to join the compulsory Study Abroad and Training Program during the first semester of the second year.
In addition to a junior high school or high school English teaching license, students can also obtain certifications in fields other than languages. Students can take advantage of further extracurricular courses to challenge themselves with certifications in English conversation, TOEIC?, and other language-related qualifications, as well as certifications in new fields with an eye toward the future.
Our graduates are actively working at the forefront of society in the distribution and service industries, where dialogue and interaction with people of different languages and cultures are required, as well as in trading companies and manufacturers seeking to expand their business overseas.
The department aims to nurture individuals who can contribute to the international community as global citizens and emphasizes the importance of acquiring a solid knowledge of their language major, as well as researching and deepening their understanding of countries and regions through language. In their second year, the students of the Department of Language Studies will experience the Global Campus Program (GCP), while the students at the Department of International Japanese Studies will take part in the Language and Study Program. Upon their return to their home countries, we hope that through lectures and seminars, students will be able to grasp the essence of the problems facing society from different perspectives and develop the ability to solve those problems.
