Training good doctors
with up-to-date
medical knowledge and skills
Doctors need more than just knowledge about illness and treatment. They need to engage in dialogue with other medical staff as well as patients and their families. The School of Medicine educates students using a "cumulative method" in which students begin with the basics, study a small number of subjects intensively over a short period of time, and repeat these subjects from different perspectives in the following year to effectively acquire knowledge and develop problem-solving skills through group study, presentations, and discussions in small groups. In addition, the adjacent Special Functioning Hospital employs specialists who are proficient in cutting-edge medical care. We make the most of this fulfilling learning environment to train good doctors who have acquired the abilities necessary for medical professionals.
The enhancement of medical education and the development of medical care are supported by the will of donors who wish to donate their own remains to be put to good use. Teikyo University Shirakikukai asks all those willing to register as body donors.
Learn from teachers who are active on the front lines of medicine
The mission of the School of Medicine was formulated with the goal of contributing to society by striving to train doctors who can think and make decisions for themselves and take control of their own improvement.
We believe that the basis of medical care is the spirit of love toward humanity. We nurture medical personnel who not only have knowledge and skills, but can also flexibly adapt and play an active role in the new medical horizons of the 21st century.
Through our outcome-based curriculum, students acquire not only knowledge and skills, but also a comprehensive perspective, decision-making skills, and a humane disposition as they are trained to be doctors who can adapt to the rapidly changing medical field.
The Department of Medicine of the School of Medicine has clarified its assessment criteria in order to adopt an evaluation system based on objective perspectives. As a result, we are producing doctors who meet the needs of society.
Students can acquire the skills and spirit of a medical professional while receiving various kinds of academic support in a learning environment adjacent to the affiliated hospital, which is equipped with the latest equipment and facilities.
In order to pass on the latest medical knowledge and skills and nurture good doctors who can provide a wide range of medical treatments, we are working to revitalize the medical education of our university and maintain and improve its quality.
Our curriculum is designed to help students acquire qualifications with attention toward the national examinations. Under the guidance of experienced professors, students will develop the ability to pass the national examination through a practical curriculum.
Through practice, students will acquire the basic skills required to be a medical professional. By gaining experience in an environment closer to the actual hospital setting, we aim for students to transition smoothly into hospital training.
The mission of Teikyo University School of Medicine is to "train good doctors." To become a "good doctor," one must have not only sufficient medical knowledge and skills, but also high ideals for medicine and deep love for patients. With the development of various medical technologies such as artificial intelligence and surgical robots, the work and position of doctors are changing dramatically. However, it is important to note that artificial intelligence and surgical robots are merely tools, or means, used in medicine. People are not machines. In medicine, when considering what kind of medical care each person needs and setting goals, what is essential is "love" to understand the person's personality, feelings, and environment and think from the person's perspective. Doctors have "love" for their patients that artificial intelligence and surgical robots do not have. As long as doctors have love for their patients, doctors are indispensable in medicine. Teikyo University School of Medicine aims to train "good doctors" who can adapt to their environment and make full use of medical technology to play an active role in the medical world of the 21st century.
