Message from the President

The door of development pioneered by wisdom

Since the Industrial Revolution, humankind has been turning new energies into power, creating bigger, faster, and more things. Globalization accelerated these in the 1990s, and since the beginning of the 2000s, the IT revolution has led to huge economic development. On the other hand, it is also true that many problems and disparities have increased and become more serious. Developed and developing countries, rich and poor, urban and rural, and now the biggest global issue of all: climate change. Against this background, the SDGs started as MDGs in 2000 and will be transformed into SDGs in 2015. The biggest issue is "sustainable development. For example, more advanced science and technology will be required to ensure that completely clean energy that does not emit CO2 will be sufficient to continue the economic development that has been carried out by fossil fuels. To bridge the economic gap between regions, it may be necessary to create new industries that have never existed before. These are exactly the same challenges in both developed and developing countries. What is required, we believe, is human wisdom. The possibilities of the SDGs that Teikyo University sees are also the possibilities of the next generation that will be opened up by human wisdom.
