Pharmacists, who are experts in medicine, play an important role in medical care together with doctors and nurses, and their importance is rapidly increasing. At Teikyo University's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, students not only acquire advanced medical knowledge and techniques, but also study basic fields such as chemistry to train pharmacists who are rich in humanity and have a scientific eye. We take advantage of the excellent medical education environment, such as the affiliated hospital School of Medicine, to provide practical, on-the-job education.

Teikyo Yakugakukai

The Teikyo Yakugakukai is a workshop held once a year for the purpose of postgraduate education. Participants acquire practical knowledge about drug treatment by listening to lectures that cover about two topics per workshop.

Teikyo University Medicinal Botanical Garden

Located in Sagamihara, Kanagawa, the Teikyo University Medicinal Botanical Garden has been upgraded by reconstructing the greenhouse, making part of the garden's walking paths barrier-free, and improving the pond.

Facilities and Equipment Used by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences

The faculty has a pharmacy practice room for conducting basic experiments, as well as a practice room for preliminary training for drug dispensing and drug administration guidance prior to practical training, allowing students to experience what it is like to be on the frontlines of medicine.

Pharmacists are active in the medical field, pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics companies and government. Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has constructed a six-year curriculum for pharmaceutical education that conforms to the Model Core Curriculum for Pharmaceutical Education and takes into consideration the relevance and sequentiality of each pharmaceutical specialty subject, and students acquire advanced specialized knowledge and skills as drug specialists and develop clinical practice abilities. The Faculty offers Humanity Communication education as a compulsory subject from the first to fifth years, and is characterized by its medical education that keeps in mind the practice of patient-centered medicine. In addition, the Faculty of Pharmacy takes advantage of the learning environment at Itabashi Campus, where School of Medicine, Faculty of Medical Technology and School of Medicine Affiliated Hospital are gathered, to carry out collaborative education with School of Medicine School of Medicine Affiliated Hospital, such as participating in hospital conferences, and practical collaborative learning with the three medical faculties, such as first aid and Team Medical Care Faculty of Medical Technology in order to master the mission and role of a pharmacist and to develop rich humanity.
