Two circles where students of Department of Aerospace Engineering play a central role received the 2014 Shoichi Okinaga Academic and Cultural Achievement Award and Encouragement Award. Sky Project is a circle that designs and manufactures human-powered aircraft. They participated in the Japan International Birdman Rally (in 2013) for the first time in 7 years and placed 4th in the distance category. The Space Systems Study Group developed and manufactured a small artificial satellite "TeikyoSat-3". In February 2014, they launched it from TanegashimaSpace Center as one of the piggyback satellites of JAXA's HIIA rocket,communicationed with the ground and sent environmental data in orbit. Both circles are student-centric and the results of activities by their hard efforts are wonderful. Winning the Okinaga Award was a good stimulus,
and they are working toward the next step. Also, Astronomical Department focusing on astronomical observation activities, or Aviation Department approaching aeronautical engineering with a radio-controlled aircraft enliven The Utsunomiya Campus.

We are throwing one's best into a human-powered aircraft
SkyProject is a club that manufactures human-powered aircraft, and marks the 15th anniversary of its establishment this year. In order to fly as fast as possible and as far as possible, we are working on production with our friends by repeating trial and error. In 2013, we achieved a good result of 4th place in the distance section of the Japan International Birdman Rally. Currently, we repeat to make improvements aiming for even higher heights. We are chasing my dream of the sky with my friends today.

We continue to take on the insatiable challenge to the "Space".
The Space Systems Study Group was established in 2009 as an engineering club that researches and considers space system-related matters. In February 2014, the small artificial satellite "Teikyo Sat-3" was designed and developed by the Space Systems Study Group, and launched into space with the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 23. Currently, we are working on the development of the next unit, "Teikyo Sat-4", based on the valuable experience and data gained in the development and operation of "Teikyo Sat-3".

We hold a starry sky observation party in front of the station every year
The Astronomical Department was established in 2009, promoted to an official organization in 2011, and promoted from "club" to "circle" in 2014. We hold regular observation meetings within the university and starry sky observation meetings in front of JR Utsunomiya Station several times a year. Also, we sometimes hold a delivery observation meetings to a nearby elementary school. The members themselves enjoy the stars and the universe. In addition, they convey the wonderfulness to the local people and enjoy their activities together.

We fly R / C planes at the model airfield on an irregular basis.
In the Aviation Department, we conduct radio-controlled aircraft flights and radio-controlled simulator maneuvering exercises on an irregular basis. In addition, at the school festival held on the Utsunomiya Campus every fall, we hold a model machine exchange meeting where radio-controlled machine lovers gather from outside the university and experience a 3D flight simulator.
