The baseball club held a baseball clinic for elementary school students

On Sunday, December 8, 2024, our university's baseball team held a baseball clinic for elementary school students at Teikyo University Sagamiko Ground (Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture), with over 100 elementary school students, team staff, and parents from six teams from Midori Ward, Sagamihara City participating.

The day began with a warm-up under clear skies, followed by catch ball, defensive practice for each position, base running practice such as sliding, and batting practice in the afternoon. The elementary school students cheered loudly as the students demonstrated their skills at various points.
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, this was the first time the event had been held in five years, and the students seemed nervous at first, but as they talked about various things, they grew closer, and by the end, the baseball class had ended with an atmosphere like real brothers. The students and staff received energy and power from the innocent and cute elementary school students.
Miyagi Rui (3rd year, Faculty of Medical Technology), captain of the baseball team, said, "This was my first time participating in a baseball class as an instructor, and it was a very fulfilling day. It was very difficult to convey the message to elementary school students, but seeing the children enjoying baseball from the bottom of their hearts, we learned a lot. We would like to make use of this in the baseball club's future activities. Thank you to everyone who participated."

Teikyo University will continue to create opportunities for local children to interact through sports.
