Hachioji CampusIllumination Lighting Ceremony 2024 was held

The illumination lighting ceremony was held at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus, and the illuminations on the fir trees were turned on. This year marks the eighth year for the illuminations, and the volunteer Campus Life Tutors involved in the planning decide on a theme each year. This year, the theme is linked to SDGs Goal 11 "Sustainable cities and towns", and given the characteristics of Hachioji Campus, where there are many international students and people of foreign nationality, the illuminations were chosen with the hope that they would serve as an opportunity to deepen understanding of countries, cultures, and sports.

At the lighting ceremony, the Campus Life Tutor, who played a central role in the project, gave an explanation about the project, and our Hachioji Campus mascot "Teebo" also participated, celebrating the moment of lighting with many students, faculty and staff. Following on from last year, food trucks selling fried bread and kebabs were set up, and the student cafeteria Soratio Kitchen provided coffee and a special one-cup dessert from Ginza Suehiro, further livening up the lighting ceremony. The ornaments were made with the SDGs in mind, and the tree was decorated with ingenious ornaments such as decorations made from plastic bottles and milk cartons. Children from Teikyo University Kindergarten and Teikyo University Elementary School also helped with making the ornaments.
This campus illumination was made possible with the support of 40 companies, including many companies where our university graduates work and companies that have regular ties with our university.
