On Thursday, September 19th and Thursday, September 26th, 2024, a report session on the language and culture training program was held within the "Japanese Language Communication" class offered by the Department of Department of Global Japanese Studies Faculty of Language Studies, Teikyo University.
The department implements a four-month language and cultural training program in the first semester of 2nd year with the aim of acquiring advanced language communication skills and intercultural understanding. Students who are required to study English (Japanese students) study English at seven overseas partner schools in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia, while students who are required to study Japanese (international students) study Japanese at four domestic partner schools: Shiga University, Shimane University, Yamagata University, and Iwate University. They also undergo intercultural understanding training that can only be learned in the respective regions.
At the presentation, the students reported on the classes and extracurricular activities they experienced at their host universities, as well as their interactions with their host families and friends. They also shared the experiences they gained through the training, and it was seen that the reports from other students inspired the students in a new way, which deepened their own understanding.
Teikyo University will continue to provide an international environment and practical learning opportunities to cultivate global talent.
