Hachioji CampusA guest speaker from Hachioji City was invited to give a lecture.

On Monday, June 2, 2025, Teikyo University Faculty of Law Department of Political Science Associate Professor invited Chie Nagao and Yuki Mine of the Hachioji City Collaboration Promotion Division as guest speakers in a class on regional policy theory offered by Akira Parki.

In this class, students learned about the nature of town development carried out by various entities such as NPOs, neighborhood associations, and local economic organizations from the perspective of local government and regional policies, and this time, specific examples of community development through collaboration with neighborhood associations, enhancement of community policies, and collaboration with civic groups, businesses, and universities were introduced. The idea of creating a virtuous cycle that leads to the future of the region by local stakeholders utilizing each other's strengths and supporting each other, and the idea that "collaboration" is not an end in itself but a means to achieve "citizen-led town development" and "better services" were emphasized, making this a lecture that made students realize the importance of the role that citizen and regional power plays in solving regional issues.

Students who took the course commented, "I was able to concretely understand how the meaning of the word collaboration is put into practice in the field," and "I was surprised at the substantial initiatives in Hachioji City. I became interested in the policies of the town where I live," and it was clear that their learning had deepened as they linked the theory with the field of urban development. In the future, the course will continue to invite practitioners who are active on the front lines of the region as Senior Assistant Professor in the Regional Policy Theory course, providing each student with the opportunity to develop the perspective and motivation to be a leader in the local community.
