On Saturday, April 19, 2025, the 21st round match of League H, the top handball league in Japan, between Siegstar Tokyo and Fukui Eiheiji Blue Thunder was held at Higashin Arena (Sumida-ku, Tokyo), and the Teikyo University Cheerleading Club BUFFALOS performed at the halftime show of the exhibition match.
The team had previously performed the "Shuwashuwa Dance☆" to promote the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics at the request of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and after seeing the performance, Siegstar Tokyo asked them to also perform it at the halftime show for the exhibition match, which led to their appearance this time.
In the exhibition match, the Deaf Handball Team, which aims to participate in the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics, faced off against the Tokyo Metropolitan Koiwa High School Boys Handball Club. For the halftime show, they performed an arrangement of the dance "Shuwashuwa Dance☆," which was created to give children an opportunity to come into contact with sign language vocabulary, incorporating elements of cheerleading. This was an opportunity for the many people who came to watch the match to learn about the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics.
Our university's Cheerleading Club aims to become the best university in Japan in cheerleading competitions, and will continue to carry out activities to support you in the future.
