On Friday, March 14, 2025, in the Toyosato district of Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture, where Teikyo University Utsunomiya Campus is located, Tsuboi Faculty of Economics Department of Regional Economics Professor and the district federation of neighborhood associations collaborated to develop a "community timeline" that organizes what the community will do during a disaster on a time line. This initiative was discussed through multiple workshops attended by officers of the district federation of neighborhood councils and others beginning in January 2024, with Tsuboi Professor accompanying the community in the implementation of the plan.
The torrential rains in the Kanto and Tohoku regions in September 2015 triggered the concept of "My Timeline," which emphasizes self-help and specifies "when, where, and how" to evacuate. The Community Timeline is based on the concept of "My Timeline," but it is characterized by its emphasis on mutual aid, clearly indicating "when, who, and what" and is the first such initiative in Utsunomiya City.
We will continue to update and revise the contents of the MYTEL through community disaster drills and other activities as needed, while also utilizing and disseminating the MYTEL as a district disaster prevention plan. Utsunomiya Campus As a local university, Utsunomiya University will continue to conduct research and practice in order to contribute to the strengthening of local disaster preparedness.
