On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the Teikyo University Calligraphy Club performed a calligraphy performance at the Tokyo Sustainable MICE Showcase held at Akasaka Intercity Conference Center (Minato-ku, Tokyo). The event was organized by the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau and aims to spread the idea of "sustainable MICE (international conferences, exhibitions, etc.)". Calligraphy is included in the concept of sustainability from the perspective of inheriting traditional culture. In addition, as young people who will lead the next generation, they were asked to take the stage at the event as a symbol of sustainability.
On the day, they presented two pieces inspired by the ideas of reducing environmental impact and SDGs, and the audience gave a big round of applause for their powerful performance. The students were nervous about performing in a large venue, but they looked satisfied that so many people were watching them.
The Calligraphy Club aims to create cultural value and contribute to the local community, and will continue to carry out a wide variety of cultural activities.
