The brass band won the gold prize at the 50th Tokyo University Ensemble Contest.

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, the 50th Tokyo University Ensemble Contest was held at the Edogawa Cultural Center (Edogawa-ku, Tokyo). Three groups from the Teikyo University Wind Orchestra participated, with the saxophone quartet winning the gold prize, and the brass quartet and flute trio winning silver prizes. The saxophone quartet that won the gold prize also won the right to compete in the Tokyo tournament.
It was the first time in four years that the brass band won a gold medal, and saxophone quartet leader, Tatsumi Rui (3rd year, Faculty of Liberal Arts), reflected on the competition, saying, "We had been practicing hard with the goal of winning the gold medal and competing in the Tokyo competition, so I'm happy that we were able to achieve this. We made a few mistakes during the actual performance, so I'm also a little disappointed."
The saxophone quartet that won the gold prize will compete in the 48th Tokyo Ensemble Contest to be held on Sunday, February 2nd, 2019 at J:COM Hall Hachioji (Hachioji City, Tokyo). Tatsumi said, "We will practice again to wipe away the mistakes from last time and give a perfect performance, with the goal of winning the gold prize and competing in the national competition." We appreciate your continued support.
