Utsunomiya CampusEngineering Club "RoboLab" participated in the World Robot Olympiad 2024 Turkey World Championship

The World Robot Olympiad 2024 was held in Izmir, Turkey from Thursday, November 28th to Saturday, November 30th, 2024, and Teikyo Robostar from RoboLab, an engineering club at Teikyo University's Utsunomiya Campus, participated in the Future Engineers division. The competition is aimed at high school, university, and technical college students, and is a contest to compete in more advanced robot control. This time, the theme was AI and self-driving robots, and the self-driving robot aimed to complete a mission while using a camera to identify obstacles and walls.
Teikyo Robostar ranked 16th after three days of competition against top competitors from 52 countries. The team members are first-year students in the Faculty of Faculty of Science and Engineering, who won the Japanese competition four months after enrolling, and showed remarkable performance in this world competition. The ranking is determined by the total score and time in three events. In the first event, the open challenge, they received a perfect score of 30 points, and added points in the first round of the final match in the second event, finishing the first day in 9th place. Although their score did not improve in the second round of the final match on the last day, they received a high score of 5th out of 52 countries in the robot design in the third event, which led to their ranking this time.
The students deepened their international understanding with athletes from each country, and upon returning home, they have already begun preparations for the 2025 World Championships in Singapore. We look forward to seeing great things from the engineering club "RoboLab" in the future.
