Hachioji CampusCo-Reading Supporters Students held a Co-Reading Festa at Seisha Festival

At the Seisha Festival held at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus on Saturday, October 26th and Sunday, October 27th, 2024, the student group Co-Reading Supporters held a "Co-Reading Festa" and planned three events: a co-reading used book fair, a book rally, and a biblibattle.

The Co-Reading Used Book Market is a bit different, with events such as the "One Box Used Book Market," in which all Co-Reading Supporters become store owners and sell selected books based on a theme with comment cards attached, and the "Comment Market," in which the titles of the books are concealed and visitors can look only at the recommended comments and choose a book that they want to read.
The book rally is a shared reading experience exclusive to the Seisha Festival, in which visitors follow a story as they tour the Media Library Center and take on three book-related missions, and if they complete all of them they receive a prize. It is designed to allow visitors to communicate with students through books.
And the Biblibattle is an "intellectual book review battle" in which presenters give presentations on the appeal of the books they recommend within a time limit, and the audience votes to decide which book they most want to read. On the first day, the finals of the Co-Reading Supporters Representative Competition were held, and five Co-Reading Supporters participated: Takuya Niitsuma (4th year, Faculty of Liberal Arts Faculty of Liberal Arts), Yasuhiro Shimada (4th year, Faculty of Liberal Arts), Kyoka Tazawa (2nd year, Faculty of Liberal Arts of Letters), and Chirei Ohashi (3rd year, Faculty of Law). Although the students looked nervous, they used gestures to talk about the appeal of the books within the 5-minute time limit. As a result of the audience's vote, Shimada, who introduced Kotaro Isaka's "Fuga wa Yuga," was selected as the champion, and he was selected to participate in the Kanto D Block Finals. In addition, Suzuki, who introduced Natsuko Imamura's "Ki ni Natta Asa," was selected as the runner-up, and he was given the right to participate in the Teikyo University Preliminary Competition to be held on the second day of the Seisha Festival.

On the second day, the "National University Biblibattle 2024 Teikyo University Preliminary" was a battle that included not only the reading supporters but also students from other universities. Suzuki, who had been the runner-up the day before and had a frustrated look on his face, received a lot of support from the audience and became the champion, and will compete in the Kanto E Block finals.

If a book is selected as the champion in each block, it will be eligible to compete in the finals of the "National University Biblibattle 2024 - Capital Showdown" to be held at Showa Women's University on Sunday, December 22nd of the same year. Unfortunately, Shimada and Suzuki missed out on the championship in their block, but Kota Takase (4th year, Faculty of Liberal Arts), who won the other preliminary rounds and competed in the Kanto C Block Finals, introduced the champion book "First, make a cow a ball" by Yuba Kagiri, and successfully qualified for the main competition. Please keep an eye on the future achievements of our students.

On the first day of the Seisha Festival, our university's Chairman and President Yoshihito Okinaga visited the Co-Reading Festa and interacted with the student co-reading supporters, including purchasing books in the "Comment Market."
In the future, our university's Media Library Center will continue to implement various mechanisms to stimulate the desire to read, with the motto of "reading together," "recommending each other," and "reviewing each other's books."
