The Karate Club achieved their fifth consecutive victory in the men's team kata and their 14th consecutive victory in the women's team kata at the All Japan University Karate Championships.

On Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the 68th All Japan University Karate Championships held at the Nippon Budokan (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), the Teikyo University Karate Club won the men's and women's team kata divisions, achieving their 15th overall victory in the men's division and their 14th consecutive victory in the women's division, achieving their 16th overall victory. In addition, both the men's and women's kumite divisions achieved the best eight results.

Both the men's and women's team kata won overwhelming points from the first round and advanced to the finals without any trouble. In the finals, the "breakdown" of the kata, which was put into practice, was outstanding in both strength and speed, and won the championship with a score more than one point higher than the opponent. In the team kumite, the men's team won the Kanto University Karate Championship in October, while the women's team lost in the first round, so attention was focused on how they would fight at the All Japan Championships, but in the end, both the men's and women's teams lost to Kinki University, and their dream of winning four championships was dashed. The fourth-year students who led the club had experienced four All Japan championships as underclassmen, and they were aware that the generation they were leading had a chance to achieve four championships, and had been working hard at training up to this point. In the individual weight-class competition held at the end of October, many students had been showing the results of their training and winning in four weight classes, so the defeat at the All Japan Championships seemed to be a sense of loss. However, the achievements of the fourth-year students who have improved the team's strength up to this point will be a great asset for their juniors and will be passed on to the new team.
We appreciate your continued support for the Karate Club.
