From Monday, October 21st to Friday, November 1st, 2024, the 8th installment of the "World Cuisine" project, "World Onigiri Set Meals," was held at the Goderecchio student cafeteria on Teikyo University's Itabashi Campus.
This project is based on the concept of "making globalization a part of everyday life" and sells representative dishes from around the world as event menus for a limited time. This time, in conjunction with the "Onigiri Action" organized by the non-profit organization Table For Two (TFT), they sold "Onigiri Set Meals from Around the World."
Onigiri Action is an initiative where if you post a photo of onigiri on social media (Instagram, X, Facebook) or on a special website, a donation equivalent to five school lunches (100 yen) will be provided for each photo posted, and children in Africa and Asia can receive school lunches. In order to promote this initiative at our university, we sold onigiri set meals for two weeks and called for participation in this action, and a survey showed that about 70 people participated.
Additionally, the Nagai Seminar at Faculty of Economics on our Hachioji Campus also sold a "Luxurious Rice Ball Set with Fragrant Beef Tendon and Radish Rice Balls in Stock" at the student cafeteria, Soratio Kitchen, on Tuesday, November 12th of the same year, helping to spark onigiri action across campus.
Through the "World Cuisine" project, we hope to make globalization more familiar to students, and to further internationalize our university while also widely communicating our university's internationalization efforts.
