The 3rd Global Challenge Seminar "Connecting the World with Onigiri - Putting SDGs into Practice" was held

On Friday, October 25, 2024, the 3rd Global Challenge Seminar "Connecting the World with Onigiri - Putting SDGs into Practice" was held online for students and faculty from all Teikyo University campuses. The purpose of this seminar is for students and faculty from four campuses to learn about one international theme across faculties and fields, and through subsequent discussion, experience the Teikyo Global Competency and "globalization in everyday life" concepts promoted by the university.
This was the third time the event was held, and two of our faculty members gave lectures on the theme of "SDGs that are close to us." In her lecture, Nagai Lisa, Senior Assistant Professor at Hachioji Campus Department of Economics Faculty of Economics introduced the Onigiri Action, which uses onigiri to support children in Asia and Africa, as well as the latest trends in the SDGs and IDGs. Professor Ogo Yoshiki, Head of Center Medical Education and Research Center, gave a lecture on SDGs issues in the medical field (medical inequality, medical waste issues, etc.). Participants from various positions, including students and faculty, gathered and, based on the content of the lectures, held a campus-wide discussion within the limited time. Even though they were from different campuses and fields, they had something in common, and they were interested in each other and actively asked questions and exchanged opinions.
As for the Onigiri Action, onigiri set meals were sold at the student cafeterias on Itabashi Campus and Hachioji Campus during the target period, and our university actively participated in this initiative.

Global Initiative Office will continue to provide opportunities for learning and exchange on international topics across campus.
