MOU signed with I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KSMA)

On Friday, May 3, 2024, Teikyo University Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KSMA) regarding education, research, and student exchange.

I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy is one of the first universities established in the Kyrgyz Republic, a Central Asian country. The university incorporates many advanced medical techniques, has many staff members with advanced medical qualifications, and constantly invites experts in various medical fields from both within and outside of Japan. In addition, in cooperation with the School Corporation Academy Group, which operates the Pharmacist National Examination Preparatory School "Pharmacy Seminar," we have started a project to train high-quality pharmacists in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Our university has been carrying out various collaborative projects with I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy. With the aim of building a stronger partnership, our university's Chairman and President, Yoshihito Okinaga, visited the university and signed an MOU with President Gudaibergenova Indira Orozovaevna. The MOU aims to promote exchanges between researchers, faculty and students, promote joint research, and promote a wide range of academic exchanges. With this signing as an opportunity, we will further promote our collaboration with I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy.

Pharmaceutical Education Exchange
In April 2023, as part of JICA's "Kyrgyzstan Continuing Education and National Examination Development Project for Pharmacists," Vice President Dzhumalieva Gulmira and Dean of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Dutalieva Sayragul from I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy, and Dean of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences Elnazarova Bakhtyg from Jalalabad (Jalal-Abad) University participated in an inspection and meeting of our Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Department of Pharmacy at our Itabashi Campus.

Exchange with Department of Radiological Technology Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology
In September 2023, Professor Shinji Kawamura of the Department of Department of Radiological Technology Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology of our university visited the Kyrgyz Republic as a representative and visited I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy, Avicenna International Medical University, and the Hematology and Oncology Center. As a research exchange, we aim to jointly apply for the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) in 2025. In April of the same year, President of Avicenna International Medical University visited Fukuoka Campus.

Analytical research into medicinal ingredients from plants excavated from traditional medicine
This unit is a spin-off from the Ak Beshim Ruins Excavation Project (Basic S Research) of our University's Cultural Properties Research Institute, and with research funding from the Teikyo University Advanced Comprehensive Research Organization, it is conducting research on medicinal herbs in Thailand, Kenya, and the Kyrgyz Republic.

Archaeological investigation by the archaeological medical science team
It was launched as a medical team within the above-mentioned Basic S Research, and participated in surveys of the Ak Beshim ruins in spring 2023 and spring 2024, conducting surveys of environmental DNA and fungi.

Ak Beshim Archaeological Excavation Project by Research Institute of Cultural Properties, Teikyo University (Basic S Research)
A team from Research Institute of Cultural Properties, Teikyo University has been excavating the Ak-Beshim ruins in Kyrgyzstan for the past 10 years. With this MOU, the team will further collaborate with I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy.
