On Thursday, June 20, 2024, our students Takuto Kawanaka (1st year Department of Regional Economics) and Akitake Sakakibara (3rd year, Department of Aerospace Engineering) were presented with a letter of appreciation from the Utsunomiya Higashi Police Station Chief for their contribution to saving a life by stopping a young man standing in a building in Utsunomiya City on Sunday, June 9 of the same year, listening to his story, protecting him, and entrusting him to the Utsunomiya Higashi Police Station.
The Utsunomiya Higashi Police Station Chief expressed his gratitude to the pair, saying, "These days, many people turn a blind eye to what others see, so sensing danger and calling out to the person in question is an extremely brave act, and we at the police are grateful for it." When presenting the awards, Kawanaka and Sakakibara looked back on the time and said, "I thought I would regret it if I didn't call out to them and help them, so I acted reflexively."
Teikyo University will continue to contribute to society by properly demonstrating the results of its education.
