On Friday, August 9, 2024, the award ceremony for the "TABLE FOR TWO Awards 2024" hosted by the non-profit organization TABLE FOR TWO International (hereinafter referred to as TFT) was held, and the seminar of Teikyo University Department of Economics Faculty of Economics Senior Assistant Professor Lisa Nagai, who won an award in the menu and drink category, attended. TFT means "a table for two" and aims to eliminate the food imbalance between lifestyle-related diseases caused by food, such as obesity in developed countries, and the problems of hunger and malnutrition in developing countries, and to simultaneously improve the health of both groups of people. The purpose of the "TABLE FOR TWO Awards 2024" held this time is to share the menus offered by organizations that have introduced the TFT program and their efforts to promote TFT across organizational boundaries, and to promote employee-participation in social contribution activities.
Nagai's seminar team worked with Ginza Suehiro to come up with and sell a menu called "Festival TFT! - TFT Salmon Avocado Rice Bowl" for last year's university festival, Seishasai. The entry in the menu and drink category was highly praised for being student-led in its development and for achieving the highest sales ever for a TFT menu at our university. Nagoya Takuho (then a fourth-year student Faculty of Economics), who created the entry, commented, "Of course we were happy that the menu we came up with was recognized, but even more so, we were happy to be able to give back to the many people who supported us. We will continue to work hard."
Nagai's seminar will continue to offer TFT menus on a regular basis in the campus cafeteria, contributing to the achievement of the SDGs.
