On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, students and faculty from Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology held an exchange event with foreign medical professionals residing in the Omuta area at the Teikyo University Fukuoka Campus. This initiative has been carried out based on the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) since 2023, and aims to share diverse values through exchanges with foreign medical professionals who are working in Japan and aiming to obtain national qualifications, and to study together for the national examination.
On the day, five foreigners from Indonesia and Vietnam, 16 students, and 10 faculty and staff participated. Divided into five groups, they toasted in Vietnamese and then used bone specimens to recall disease names from bone, joint, and muscle names, learning medical terminology necessary for the national exam. At first, the participants seemed nervous around each other, but gradually they opened up and deepened their friendship through group work. In addition, a survey of participants revealed that the event was very fulfilling, with comments such as, "It was easier to talk to each other than I imagined, and we were able to overcome the language barrier by laughing together," and "I was able to learn about anatomy in a fun way."
Fukuoka Campus will continue to carry out activities aimed at further developing international exchange.
