On Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the All-Japan University Ekiden Kanto Regional Qualifying Tournament (Kanto Student Athletics Federation Recommended School Selection Tournament for the 56th All-Japan Inter-University Ekiden Championships, Chichibunomiya Cup), held at Sagamihara Gion Stadium (Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture), the Teikyo University Ekiden (Road Relay) Club placed 6th overall and earned the right to compete in the finals.
In this tournament, four out of eight runners had participated in the previous tournament, and the strength of the veteran fourth-year students and the new underclassmen was brilliantly demonstrated in the race. At one point, the time result put the team in 10th place, which was outside the range to qualify for the main tournament, but as planned, the latter half of the group improved their position and they were able to achieve results with the overall strength that is characteristic of our school.
Looking back on the selection meeting, Nakano Takayuki, head coach of our university's Ekiden (Road Relay) Club, commented, "The participants ran well. As planned, we were able to improve our times in the third and fourth groups. From now on, we will participate in the Hakone, All Japan, and Ekiden (Road Relay) Club.
