Hiroto Suzuki (2nd year student, Department of Department of Information and Electronic Engineering Faculty of Science and Engineering and Technology) presented his research at ROBOMECH2024, sponsored by the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, held at Light Cube Utsunomiya (Tochigi Prefecture) on Friday, May 31st and Saturday, June 1st, 2024.
After enrolling in April 2023, Suzuki developed an automatic sampling machine for mosquitoes that transmit infectious diseases, and won the Grand Prize (Governor's Award) at the 20th Student & Corporate Research Presentation in December last year. In this presentation, he installed a camera inside the automatic sampling machine to continuously monitor the mosquito attraction situation for more than 72 hours, and developed an attempt to detect mosquitoes using AI.
During the Q&A session, researchers from universities and companies expressed great interest and expectations, encouraging the student to obtain a patent and commercialize the product. In addition, the researchers were surprised and encouraged that a second-year undergraduate student had presented their research among more than 1,300 presentations.
We look forward to seeing even more success from Suzuki in the future.
