In a remarkable showcase of talent and ingenuity, the final presentation of "Tornado2023," a dynamic hackathon organized by the Tornado Executive Committee, took place on Saturday at the Tokyo College of Information Design in Edogawa-ku, Tokyo. Among the standout participants was Hibiki Tamaki, a fourth-year student from the Faculty of Economics, representing a team that clinched both the coveted Excellence Award and the prestigious TOHO Award, sponsored by a prominent company. Tornado, an immersive online hackathon, tasked teams with the mission of creating a product to address real-world challenges. Comprising a product owner, a designer, and three engineers, each team collaborated to bring their innovative visions to life. Notably, the Ukinaga Research Institute from our university played a pivotal role in orchestrating this dynamic event.
Mr. Tamashiro's team tackled the imperative theme of post-coronavirus rejuvenation, focusing on "Creating products that support future lifestyles." The fruit of their labor was unveiled as "Seishun Puzzle," a unique product that enables users to piece together and share cherished memories with friends through a delightful puzzle format. The final presentation stage assessed projects on four critical fronts: planning acumen, design finesse, engineering prowess, and presentation eloquence — a rigorous evaluation that ultimately led to their well-deserved accolades.
