Koala Café? is a support program for school-aged children (elementary school students) and adults who have been informed that a loved one (hereinafter referred to as an adult) has been diagnosed with cancer. The aim is for children to gain accurate knowledge about cancer and its treatment so that adults can cope with changes in their lives due to cancer and be able to control their own emotions.
By sharing your feelings with others who are going through the same experience, it is hoped that you will be relieved of your feelings of loneliness.
Adults also share the common experience of raising children while having cancer themselves or caring for a family member with cancer. Sharing these experiences and worries with other adults can help stabilize the child's feelings and is expected to help the child live a calmer life.
