From Thursday, October 31 to Saturday, November 2, 2024, Mr. Takumi Numata (2024 Teikyo University Junior College graduate) became the first Japanese to participate in the final round of the Ligier JS F4 Championship held at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas, USA, and finished in 4th place.
Ligier JS F4 is a U.S. domestic F4 race that is one step below the world-class FIA-F4, a pyramid with F1 at its top. All drivers race with the same car, the same engine, and the same tires, so the results are directly related to the skill of the drivers.
Mr. Numata has been preparing for F4 since he was a student at the university, and in November 2023, he traveled to the United States to negotiate with Crosslink Kiwi Motorsports, a local team. This time, he participated in the race as a member of the team with the support of CrossLink Kiwi Motorsports, and overcoming various accidents such as poor physical condition and machine trouble, he gradually improved his time from the qualifying round and eventually achieved a 4th place finish. After the race, Mr. Numata commented, "It's frustrating because I was aiming for the podium, but I think I was able to show my speed," and he felt a sense of satisfaction.
His next goal is to enter the Formula Regional Americas (F3 America) next year, a category between F3 and F4, with the same team. Please keep an eye on Mr. Numata's future activities.
