Teikyo University Recurrent College held a "Learn and Eat Food Culture Course"Kasumigaseki Campus

On Friday, October 18, 2024, the Teikyo University Recurrent College "Learn and Eat Food Culture Course" was held at the Teikyo University Kasumigaseki Campus. The course was based on the theme of "gastronomy (registered as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO)," the greatest feature of French food culture, and the program included learning about French gastronomy from the perspective of home cooking and regional cuisine, and actually tasting the food.
In the lecture by Isao Hirota, academic advisor of our university, the participants were given an academic explanation of what French cuisine is, the historical background of the development of the gastronomic culture, and home cooking in Paris. Afterwards, the participants enjoyed typical home cooking and regional dishes from Paris prepared by Sasaki Akito, former owner and chef of the Maison Franco-Japonais "L'Espace". During the tasting session, the participants asked many questions about Senior Assistant Professor 's various experiences with cooking and profound topics related to food culture. As Senior Assistant Professor 's message stated, "The conversation between the heart of the person who prepares the food and the person who eats it is important for the taste and growth of the food," the participants enjoyed talking and deepening their relationships while enjoying the meal together, making the lecture a great success.
Teikyo University Recurrent College will continue to plan and operate experiential recurrent education programs.
