Hachioji CampusRugby Football Club won the 13th Kanto University Spring Exchange Tournament for the 10th time and 4th consecutive year.

On Sunday, June 16, 2024, the final match of the 13th Kanto University Spring Exchange Tournament was held at Waseda University Kamiigusa Ground (Suginami-ku, Tokyo), and the Teikyo University Rugby Football Club won its 10th championship, for the fourth consecutive year.
Tomokazu Soma, head coach of our university's Rugby Football Club who has led the team to three consecutive spring tournament victories since taking office, reflected on the spring tournament, saying, "Looking back on this spring season, I think our training program itself has progressed smoothly. However, when you think solely about winning, it's inevitably a relative evaluation, so it may not have been a season in which everything went smoothly. Looking at it from a positive side, I think it's a positive that many students were able to put on the A team jersey and experience high-level matches. However, on the other hand, that also confirms the reality that we do not have any players with overwhelming ability. With that in mind, I would like to spend the summer improving the overall level of the team, and make this a season in which we can truly work together as one so that we can move forward even further."
Captain Keito Aoki (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology), who leads the team as captain, said, "Today's theme was 'spirit' and 'guts', and we said, 'First of all, let's not lose in spirit, but let's all fight with the pride of Teikyo in our hearts.' Even if we were evenly matched at first, I think we fought hard for 80 minutes and fought with the mindset of winning in the last 10 minutes, or even 5 minutes. Although the score difference was widened in the end, it was a great harvest that we were able to fight with the mindset of 0-0 until the end without being satisfied with the score. Looking back on this spring season, there was a time when I was away from the team (because I was called up to the Japan national team training camp), but I think that being together like this allows us to communicate well and build a relationship of trust with our teammates, so I would like to grow more from here with everyone on the team. From here, I would like to target the games at summer training camp, win all the summer games, and finish the team before the start of the inter-school competition. "

We appreciate your continued support for the Teikyo University Rugby Football Club this season.
