Senior Assistant Professor Omata received the 25th Encouragement Award at the 97th Academic Meeting of the Japan Society of Ultrasound in Medicine

At the 97th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine, held from Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Pacifico Yokohama (Kanagawa Prefecture), Daiki Omata, Senior Assistant Professor at the Drug Delivery Laboratory, Faculty Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Sciences, Teikyo University, received the 25th Encouragement Award. The Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine originated from the Kansai Branch Joint Conference of Electrical Engineering Societies in 1961, was approved as an incorporated association in 1987, and currently consists of approximately 16,000 members. The society contributes to the development of academics through research into the theory and technology of ultrasound medicine, and is engaged in various activities such as hosting academic conferences.

The Encouragement Award that Senior Assistant Professor Omata received this time is given to young researchers who are making contributions to the development of ultrasound medicine, and the award was given in recognition of the excellent research that will contribute to the development of ultrasound medicine, on the delivery of mRNA-loaded lipid nanoparticles to brain tumors using microbubbles and focused ultrasound. In this study, it was revealed that by using microbubbles and focused ultrasound, it is possible to increase the permeability of the blood-brain barrier in a minimally invasive manner and promote the migration of mRNA-loaded lipid nanoparticles, which are expected to be a new pharmaceutical drug, to brain tumors.
Upon receiving the award, Senior Assistant Professor Omata said, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the teachers and students who cooperated in this research. I will continue to work hard on my research so that we can disseminate innovative drug delivery technology using ultrasound from our university." We look forward to seeing even more success from Senior Assistant Professor Omata.
